EMPLOYER REQUIREMENTS

BC PNP

BC PNP is British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program that attracts prospective immigrants with skills in demand in the province. Applicants can apply to receive the nomination certificate which can be used towards filing for permanent residency in the future.

Requirements for Employers:

  • Established Employer in the province of British Columbia.
  • Provide permanend full-time employment.
  • Offer wages that are in line with the industry standards and practices.
  • Present an employer declaration that meets market recruitment requirements.
  • Employer must provide a written job offer letter.
  • Any changes in employment must be notified to the relvant authorities.

NSNP

NSNP is similar to BC PNP in terms of program offerings. It is the Nominee Program for the province of Nova Scotia.

Employer Requirements:

  • Business is in good standing and is established in Nova Scotia.
  • Business has been under the current management/ownership for atleast 2 years.
  • Employer must demonstrate satisfactory recruitment efforts to fill the position with a Canadian citizen or permanent resident.
  • Employer must be compliant with all laws and regulations.
  • Employer must make an official full-time job offer to the candidate for a position that is located in Nova Scotia and has compensation package that the set standards of employment of the province.

LMIA

LMIA (Labour Market Impact Assessment) is a document that an employer is required to have before hiring a foreign worker. Acquiring this document indicates that there is a need for a foreign worker to fill the job when there is no Canadian worker available for it.

Once the employer gets the LMIA, it allows the worker to apply for a work permit

Employer is required to provide:

  • An official job offer letter/contract.
  • A copy of the LMIA.

Temporary foreign workers program works with 3 departments for processing the permits

  • ESDC: Employment and Social Development Canada.
  • IRCC: Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada
  • CBSA: Canadian Border Services Agency.
